Love Hate with Linux

Let me just say this Linux is awesome, and just getting better all the time. but fellas, I have one complaint. I am absolutely getting tired of the cliché descriptor "Powerful". Not every single piece of software in the Linux repository can be "Small but powerful."

So those of you making all those new cool applications for Linux that keep me from ever wanting to go back to Windows, check out the thesaurus next time. Please find a few different adjectives before I pull out the remaining hair on my head.

Thank you!

Keep up the great work.

Linux programmers have never been known for their marketing skills. I can understand how it could become annoying. Try to think of it as a badge of their naivete in the ways of corporate speak. Like the way organic cranberry juice is a little "off color" because it doesn't have any Red Dye #2 in it. "Small but powerful" has become a mantra in the Linux world. Yes, it's overused but it's kind of quaint in a non corporate sort of way.

True, but I'm going to venture out on a limb here. When it comes to Linux Software, the words "small but powerful" have been used so many times as to become completely meaningless. Not to mention the number of times the word powerful has been used to describe weak featureless programs. Therefore I believe these words should not be used at all anymore. Particularly if the Linux community wants to improve its standing with Non-Linux users.

I myself have been using Linux on and off for 18 or so years. I am very glad that it is finally becoming full-featured enough that I can avoid Windows more and more.

Thanks for you comment.
